We hired a cabin very basic but that's understandable the care takers could have aired the place out before we arrived and cleaned the cob webs.

Good access to Maroon and very peaceful at night. Family oriented although there is a ski club on Maroon if your considering water activities - not a problem just to be aware.

Have been going to Camp Lake Fire for a little over a year now. It's one of our favourite places to camp and have had amazing times there. But after the recent long weekend it will be the last time we will be staying there until things change. $140 a night for a family of 3 and otherwise was $120 a night for a couple. We were lied to when making the booking being told the whole campsite was full and that they were the only two sites left for the whole park which we discovered was a total lie when we turned up and there was one other couple camping. Which then leads to no atmosphere and shows that the management are driving customers away. The rules are insane - apparently you can't camp together, can't move the fire pit or camp in front of it, can't have friends visit as day guests are not allowed. And on top of all of that they don't sell bait. We were also locked into the campsite on one of the days. I find this terrible as if you were in an emergency and needed to get out in a hurry you have to wait for someone to walk from the house to the gate to let you out. Down the bottom there are no porta-loo's.The management have ruined an amazing campsite and we won't be back until something has changed!!

We spent the Ester weekend at the dam, absolutely beautiful place, but that's about it.

We stayed at Camp Lake Fire for a weekend and whilst it is a beautiful spot, it is somewhat ruined by lackadaisical management of the lovely natural area. The good points are that you can camp right by the lake, so there is plenty to see and do. The camping area by the lake is very small, with few flat spots. Most campers have to be on quite a steep angle which does not make for a comfortable night’s sleep for most. The grounds are littered with rubbish, especially cigarette butts which is very disappointing. The worst was the apparent lack of management of campers. Night 1 we had to endure a generator running most of the night, and night 2 was loud music and the generator again. Any half way decent management would have stopped what is not allowed in almost all other campgrounds. The facilities are pretty ordinary, feral porta potties and decrepit old showers. All in all a great location that needs some TLC and some management that are actually interested in their campers experience.

Further a decent play ground is needed for the kids, and maybe a pool table in the dining room.

The toilets are another matter for the size that the facility caters for surely a more modern ablution block should be built.

As for the out door BBQ it was an utter disgrace filthy dirty, I can understand that some people are down right pigs that don't clean up after they have used the BBQ, but the care taker should have cleaned the place before the visitors arrived.

While the dam and the views were beautiful, I can't say the same for the Camp Lake Fire. The camp sites around the damn were all on a slope making for an unpleasant nights sleep. The amenities were poorly maintained, the services was bad, and they did not check to see if the campers had actually paid or not.
